Marina Del Rey is an unincorporated city in Los Angeles County comprised of one of the largest man-made small boat harbors in the U.S. MDR's Fisherman's Village has 19 marinas with a capacity for 5,300 vessels. While much of the population are condo or luxury apartment dwellers- many also live aboard their boats in this beautiful marina.The marina is surrounded by high-rise condos, apartments, as well as the hotels, restaurants, and shops which make up the main business district. The marina area is busy both day and night. Burton Chase Park has facilities for picnics, concerts by the sea and food and wine festivals. The marina is the starting line for regattas, races and boat parades. At night, the Marina offers eateries of all types, and live entertainment, or a stroll along the waters’ edge.There are no schools within the city limits. Commuters are 15 miles from downtown Los Angeles and four miles from LAX.
